Conquer Your Dental Fears with Sedation Dentistry
Don’t let dental anxiety keep you from getting necessary dental treatments
Over 30 million Americans have dental anxiety and are afraid of going to the dentist. Sadly, many patients put off going to the dentist until they are in pain that requires prompt attention. At Chusid Dental Group in West Orange, we understand these fears, that is why we specialize in sedation dentistry. Our New Jersey dentist, Dr. Chusid will administer medications via IV sedation or oral sedation to help you relax during your dental treatment, depending on the level of dental fear. Sedation dentistry is used to perform everything from a simple filling to a complex smile make-over. Sedation dentistry allows Dr. Chusid to perform more dental work in a single setting for the most anxious patient.
West Orange Sedation Dentistry Options
For dental anxiety, we offer three types of sedation:
Intravenous (IV) – During this session, sedation is administered through an IV by one of our Board Certified Anesthesiologist. This level of sedation dentistry allows our patients the deepest and most relaxing experience available. During this treatment, patients are conscious, but in a deep level of sedation and during treatment. Our anesthesiologist monitors all vital signs, allowing Dr. Chusid to perform the maximum amount of dental work in one visit at our West Orange dental practice.
Oral Sedation – A sedative given by pill. This pill allows patients to have mild relaxation during their appointment without being completely sedated. We often have patients fall asleep will pill sedation during treatment due to their deep level of relaxation. This type of sedation dentistry is for the mildly apprehensive patient.
Nitrous Oxide – Often known as laughing gas, this most common form of sedation dentistry and is delivered via a nasal mask. Nitrous oxide is often used in cleanings, fillings and extractions. After just a few minutes after treatment, most patients are permitted to drive home.
